Lviv Oblast is located in the eastern part of Ukraine, the state boundary of Ukraine with Poland lies on the territory of Lviv Oblast. The bigger part of Lviv Oblast is located on a hill which changes to Carpathian mountains is in the south of the region. The subsoil of Lviv Oblast is rich in deposits of oil, gas, coal, oil shale, there are also explored deposits of refractory clay, gypsum, rock salt in the region. The leading sectors of Lviv Oblast economy are machine building, oil and gas mining, food and light industry. Lviv Oblast has actively developing agriculture sector, crops, vegetables, sugar beets and flax are cultivated here. The Lviv Oblast is among the Ukrainian leaders in the field of therapeutic recreation. More than 50 settlements of Lviv Oblast are included to the national list of historic settlements.
